Tennessee Meet and Greet
I'm not even sure where to begin. This meet and greet was unlike any other. We initially thought the location was great, but the loud music, lights, crowds, and dogs ended up being overwhelming for both of us. We've decided this will be the last time we host a meet and greet that isn't a more controlled, smaller event like a dinner.
That said, it was still a lot of fun. We got to see Ivy in action with her bite training, meet new people, and finally put faces to names from our Discord community. It was a good time, despite the overstimulation!
Zack and Jennay from our Discord spent the weekend with us in a cabin. Kari joined us, and the kids were there too. It felt like a family gathering in a way that's hard to describe. The kids had a blast, and Peaches and I had the chance to unwind, disconnect from the outside world, and just be in the moment. Being in the public eye can be exhausting; people sometimes forget you're a person or have a preconceived notion of who you are. This weekend reminded us of our humanity, and we didn't realize how much we needed it until we were there, unplugged.
Every new experience together teaches us something new. It allows us to connect, reconnect, strengthen existing bonds, or create new ones. This trip offered us plenty of that. We had some discussions about the podcast and shared concerns about the future, but beyond that, work wasn't much of a topic. Instead, we focused on our mental health and how this whole experience has affected us, both positively and negatively. It brought Peaches and I even closer, which is amazing because we've already been in such a good place. This whole experience has been refreshing and eye-opening.
We're already planning our next trips: Texas in November, maybe another trip to the desert towards the end of the year, and Thailand in October. Life is absolutely a trip, and we're incredibly blessed to be doing what we're doing. We're so grateful to those of you who listen to the podcast and support us.
We also finished fleshing out characters for our D&D campaign that we’ll be running in Discord. If you're interested in joining, be sure to keep an eye out for that!
